Another
snowmobiling season draws to an end. The winter of 2009-2010 started out slow
and had us all wondering was this going to be the year of El Nino or another
winter of disappointment. To our delight the El Nino held strong and what a
great winter of riding. In fact the diehard riders will be out snowmobiling
will into May or even June. I rode more this year than I normally have a chance
to ride in 2 -3 years. I was able to attend 2 Sacramento SnoBusters snowmobile
Club rides this winter. One was held at Little Truckee Summit and the other at
Cisco Grove Campground. After each ride a BBQ was held in the parking lot. Our
Poker Run was held the second weekend of February and will be held the first
weekend of February in 2011. We welcomed some new members into the club and of
course we lost a few. The economy hurt a lot of people and the toys are always
the first to go. Hopefully next year we can add more members and increase our
club activities so that we are riding someplace every weekend. We will need
members to step up and lead the rides. More volunteers are always welcome. We
attended the CNSA Convention held at Bass Lakes at the Pines Resort. Those that
attended were treated to some excellent riding as it snowed on Friday night. Of
course as Vice President I was busy with meetings while the rest of you were
out playing in the snow. Next year at Convention I will be running for
President of CNSA. I hope to bring in more membership and increase
participation of the Dealers. In this struggling economy we need to support our
local dealers as many have been forced out of business. As Safety Director of
CNSA (also) we held Safety Training Days in Hope Valley and Huntington Lake.
Safety is always of concern to me. It’s important to go prepared and to ride
within your abilities.A summer BBQ is
in the planning. Get out and have fun this summer. Our next club meeting will
be in September. For me, it’s almost time to put away the snowmobile and get
the Harley out of the garage. For those of you that ride ATV’s, be safe and
stay on the trails. See you all on the snow next winter..
